I started playing in brass bands in Cornwall when I was 7.  I was predominantly a euphonium player until my mid teens, when I took up the trombone and then the tuba.

I have played in brass bands at all levels, right up to National Championship Level. I have also been a regular player professionally with Duchy Opera, The Three Spires Orchestra, The Cornish Sinfonia and The John Austin Big Band. I have also played in a variety of professional chamber groups.

I initially learnt saxophone at school and returned to this instrument in my early 30s. Since this time I have worked hard at developing my technique on the saxophone. I've been lucky enough to receive advice and tuition from some very fine players.

I have also played with the Cornish Incarnation of SAXPAK, a professional saxophone septet.

For the past 15 years I have run the 20 piece dance band "The Fascinating Rhythm Dance Orchestra". I also ran "The Roaring 20's", and eleven piece 1920's style band, which made appearances at the Bude Jazz Festival.

I was educated at Budehaven School, Plymouth Polytechnic and Oxford University.

I have been the brass and saxophone teacher at St. Pectrocs School, Bude since January 1986. I have maintained a 100% exam pass rate for pupils from this school in grade exams.
