To many people who haven't learnt to read music, interpreting all those weird dots and squiggles seems like a black art. One of those things that "I could never do". Allow me to let you into a secret................

It's not that difficult if someone explains it properly!

Written music at its most basic level tells you two things:
1) Which note next
2) How long to hold that note
............... that's it!

It takes a while to get used to the way this is put on to paper but it is something which you can learn.

I really love teaching people to read music, at any age. It is no barrier to learning an instrument if you can't read music yet. I have taught pupils from 5 to 75 to read music.

All it takes is a little determination.
